Photography Courses
If you want to improve your digital photography skills, why not attend one of my photography courses?
“A range of photography courses, tailored to meet your personal photography goals… with skilled, patient, personal tuition and professional loan equipment available!”
I offer a range of reasonably priced digital photography courses at venues in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Hampshire. Taught on a one-to-one or small group basis, my photography courses cover digital camera skills, exposure settings and creative photography technique. I also offer a specialised photography course that covers essential camera skills for wildlife photographers.
All of my photography courses make excellent birthday and Christmas presents for your loved ones and personalised gift vouchers are available. Please use the contact form at the bottom of the page to send me your questions, or to make a booking.
#1 Digital Camera Skills

On the Digital Camera Skills photography course, you will spend a full day with me, learning and practising all you need to know to be able to take great photos with your digital compact, bridge or SLR camera. This photography course is ideal if you’re new to digital photography and want to learn how to get the most from your digital camera, lenses, flash-gun, filters and other accessories.
For this photography course, I can loan you a Canon digital compact or SLR camera, complete with lenses and accessories, so it’s even suitable for people who don’t yet own a digital camera. I can also provide sound buying advice to help you avoid wasting your time and money on gadgets and gimmicks that won’t help you get the photographic results you want.
#2 Understanding Digital Camera Exposure

On the Understanding Digital Exposure photography course, I’ll teach you all about the different exposure modes your digital compact, bridge or SLR camera supports. We will go through the aperture priority, shutter priority and manual exposure modes and I will teach you how to choose between evaluative/matrix metering or spot metering.
During this photography course, you will learn how your camera’s light meter works and how your camera’s histogram can be used to check and refine your exposure settings to improve the quality of your images. Finally, I will teach you how all of this information comes together to help you produce stunning, creative photos.
This is the second of my photography courses where loan equipment is available.
#3 Beginning Wildlife Photography

The Beginning Wildlife Photography course is aimed at photographers who want to learn the essentials of wildlife photography. This photography course covers optimal camera settings, getting to grips with manual exposure and creating original, compelling compositions. All whilst photographing a wide range of birds of prey!
For the third of my photography courses, we will use captive birds of prey as our subjects. The venues I have chosen provide an excellent opportunity to learn the camera skills used by wildlife photographers in a safe, controlled setting and the birds are stunningly beautiful!
Whilst no guarantees can be made about the availability of any particular bird or species, they may include Snowy Owls, Bald Eagles, Tawny Owls, Secretary Birds, Peregrines and various other hawks, falcons, owls, vultures and eagles. Whichever birds are available, you will go home with some stunning images of birds of prey!
